Play for peace
Sport unites communities. That’s why we can all use the power of play to spread the message of peace. Our One Day One Goal initiative encourages football fans all over the world to unite and play on Peace Day. Over 3,000 One Day One Goal football matches took place on Peace Day 2010 in all 192 UN member states and beyond. It’s not just about football, though – any sport can be played for Peace Day.
Dance for peace
One Day One Dance is the new initiative for dance lovers all over the world. Exactly as it sounds, we’re asking you to grab your partner and dance on Peace Day. One Day One Dance is open to everyone, everywhere. You can dance with your friends, family or colleagues - at your school, office or local park. It’s your dance event! Contact

Music for peace
Music events have been central to Peace One Day’s awareness activities since 2002. In 2012 we’re producing two concerts as part of the London 2012 Festival; the first in Derry/Londonderry, Northern Ireland on 21 June is the opening event of the festival; the second at the end of the festival is in London on Peace Day 21 September, the day of Global Truce.
Films for peace
Millions of people all over the world have been inspired by Jeremy’s films:
Peace One Day, The Day After Peace and in 2010
Peace One Day Part Three, produced by Jeremy and Jude Law. A fourth film is now in production, following Peace One Day’s Global Truce 2012 campaign.
Film nation: Shorts
In partnership with Panasonic, the Cultural Olympiad project Film Nation:Shorts launched in March 2010 and invites 14-25 year olds to create short films that celebrate the values of the Olympic and Paralympic Games: respect, courage, excellence, friendship, equality, determination and inspiration. The project gives film-makers the chance to get their work showcased at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Peace One Day director Jeremy Gilley and ambassador Jude Law have teamed up with London 2012 to launch a new strand to the competition, where young people are encouraged to make short films inspired by the theme of ‘Truce’. Whether it be making a short film about young people’s own experience of a truce with friends or family, how a truce either past or present has inspired them or made a difference to their lives, or what a global truce in 2012 would mean to them personally, London 2012 with Peace One Day are looking for films with inspiring stories.
