Peace One Day: The Album

I am excited to announce that Peace One Day has recently completed work on its first ever music album, which is now available for download on iTunes.

The album features 13 live recordings from previous Peace One Day Concerts. These concerts have played an incredible role in spreading the message of Peace Day to millions.

The songs included on the album go all the way back to our Brixton Event in 2002 with performances from Starsailor and long-time supporters Dave Stewart & Jimmy Cliff. Two of the highlights from our 2003 Concert are also included on the album, thanks to the contributions of Badly Drawn Boy and Lamb.

Our 2007 Concert was a full house at the Royal Albert Hall and the album features songs from that special night, including amazing performances by Corinne Bailey Rae, Kate Nash, and James Morrison. Also included on the album is ‘Saturn' from the legendary Yusuf (formerly ‘Cat Stevens').

The Peace Day Concert in 2008 - an incredible evening, filled with an entire line-up of musical greats - is the source of the album's next four tracks. The always-captivating Annie Lennox, who has long been an inspiration to many of us here at Peace One Day, kicks off the tracks from that night's concert, and it is with great pleasure and admiration that we are able to offer her performances of both ‘Where Have All the Flowers Gone' and ‘Why'. Also lined up from the 2008 show is Peter Gabriel's achingly beautiful rendition of ‘Father, Son'.

Closing out the album is a song written for Peace One Day by Dave Stewart & Jimmy Cliff - ‘Peace for One Day'. Dave and Jimmy generously took time out from their performing schedules to return to the studio and to lay down this special recording.

I am so grateful to all of the artists who have performed at Peace One Day concerts, and I want thank those who have allowed us to include their recordings on the album.
I'd also like to use this opportunity to acknowledge the tremendous efforts of the engineers and technicians who worked on the shows and the recordings. This album would not have been possible without your hard work and support, and I truly appreciate it.

Music has been and will continue to be an invaluable tool for raising awareness of Peace Day, 21 September; and, as I have said many times before, this awareness creates action, and it is action that will ultimately save lives.

So I encourage everyone to visit iTunes and to grab a copy of Peace One Day - The Album. It's a wonderful way to enjoy the first ten years of Peace One Day's history and to also help support us in our continued efforts to make Peace Day an annual day of global unity and intercultural cooperation.

Here's to the next ten years at Peace One Day!

In peace,

Jeremy
