We only launched the countdown to Global Truce 2012 a little over 2 months ago, but already we are humbled by the growing number of supporters from around the world, across all sectors of society.
I was privileged to be in New York recently to meet with key individuals from the United Nations. I met old and new friends and had amazing conversations in relation to the extraordinary activities that will take place on Peace Day 2012.
In particular and very special to me, was my meeting with Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. The Secretary-General recorded a statement to camera saying that he has joined us to make this call across the world, to all fighters to lay down their arms. Please see his video statement below to be as inspired as I was:
This is what the Global Truce 2012 campaign is all about, individuals coming together and standing together to observe a day of non-violence and ceasefire. With everyone’s support we can see the largest gathering of human beings ever recorded in the name of peace on Peace Day, 21 September 2012 – a Global Truce.
Many have joined this inspiring coalition. We are committed to get their voices heard and you can see them here: GT 2012 Coalition
You can join the GT 2012 Coalition too! Please join our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/peaceoneday, where you can find out more and keep up to date.
In peace,
